Gwendolyn J. Debban passed away Saturday, November 27, 2021 at Lakeside Hospital in Omaha at the age of 92. Gwen was born February 2, 1929 in Elwood, Nebraska to Francis and May (Moncrief) Bannister. Following her high school graduation, she went on to earn a teaching certificate. On May 29, 1949 she married her childhood sweetheart, Dale Debban. Their union was blessed with 4 children, Cynthia, David, Douglas, and Donald. Gwen worked as a bookkeeper at a lumber yard for many years. She was a long time member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church of Elwood. Gwen was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Donald and Edward Bannister, her husband of 56 years Dale Debban, granddaughter Monica Rose Debban, father -in-law Richard Debban, mother-in-law Hedwig Koitsch Debban, 7 brother-in-laws, and 6 sister-in-laws. Survivors include her daughter Cynthia Petermann (Marlin) of Omaha, sons David Debban (Shelley) of Hickman, Douglas Debban (Donna) of Lincoln, Donald Debban (Robin) of Elwood, 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Meridee Debban, and a host of nieces and nephews who were very special to her. Jeremy D. Eidson, age 43, of Edison, Nebraska passed away on Saturday, November 27, 2021 at the Cambridge Hospital in Cambridge, Nebraska. He was born on July 8, 1978 in Omaha, Nebraska to David and Catherine (Barkley) Eidson.

Michael “Mike” D. Ross age 75 of Bartley passed away at the Cambridge Memorial Hospital on November 23, 2021. He was born in McCook, NE on October 29, 1946, to Gerald “Barney" and Weta Mae (Danner) Ross. Mike attended school in Cambridge. He joined the NE National Guard.

Elfrieda Helena Luhman spent Thanksgiving in Heaven. She passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 25, 2021 at the C.A. Mues Good Samaritan Center Nursing Home in Arapahoe, Nebraska where she has been a resident since May. She was born on January 30 , 1927 at her parent’s home north of Arapahoe, Nebraska. She was the sixth of seven children in the family of Emil and Agnes (Marquardt) Bloch.

Donald “Rusty” George Lepper, age 85, of Danbury, passed away at his home on November 16, 2021. He was born in Trenton, Nebraska to William and Neva (Otis) Lepper on January 14, 1936; he was one of 12 children in the Lepper family. Rusty attended school in McCook.

A Memorial Service for Eloise Dixon will be held on Saturday, November 27, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Alma, Nebraska with Pastor Seong Lee officiating. Inurnment will follow the service at 2:00 p.m. at the Hendley Cemetery in Hendley, Nebraska.

John Marle McLane, 83 of Kearney passed away Monday, November 8 at Brookstone Gardens in Kearney. Memorial services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 15, 2021 at First Lutheran Church in Kearney with Rev. Dr. Michelle Holley Carlson and Rev. Dr. Rick Carlson officiating. Michael William Shields, age 65, of McCook, was surrounded by his family when he passed away on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. Mike was born on December 9, 1955 to Howard William and Ruth B. (Bamesberger) Shields in McCook, Nebraska. He attended school in McCook and graduated with the McCook High School class of 1974. Mike started his career with the Burlington Northern Railroad in 1975. He would work for the BN and later BNSF for 34 years. Mike started working as a train order operator then became a trainman on August 17, 1976. He was a brakeman then became a conductor, which was his position until retiring. On November 5, 1983, Michael was united in marriage to Debra Sue Farr at Peace Lutheran Church in McCook. Mike was active in the Peace Lutheran Church Family. He was baptized and confirmed at Peace Lutheran in McCook and he also served in numerous church positions through his lifetime membership. At the time of his passing, he was a member of the financial committee. Mike was happiest when being active. He had a quick wit and very good sense of humor. He loved football especially the Huskers and loved watching it with family and friends. Mike enjoyed woodworking. He was currently restoring his grandfather’s pickup. He enjoyed snow skiing, water skiing, playing basketball and softball. Later in life, he turned his attention to golf as it was easier on his body. Mike loved to hunt and spend time outdoors with Deb and his dogs. Mike and Deb never had any children of their own, but they were blessed with 23 nieces and nephews and 38 great-nieces and great-nephews; Mike loved each and every one of them as if they were his own.
