Urinalysis in patient care

Body
Urinalysis, or testing of the urine, has ancient origins dating back to the time of Hippocrates and beyond. Although we have evolved in our methodology of studying the urine and our understanding of the meaning of its characteristics, we do still rely on urinalysis in making clinical diagnoses frequently in medicine.

Getting results for Nebraskans

Body
There are a lot of ongoing policy debates in Washington, D.C. We need to secure our border and rein in bloated federal spending that’s causing inflation. We need to pass a re-authorization for the National Defense Authorization Act and a comprehensive farm bill. We need to end Biden’s appeasement-first foreign policy and restore American leadership in the world. I’m fighting tirelessly to represent Nebraskans in these debates. However, when I first came to the Senate, I also promised I would fight to ensure government is working for taxpayers. Looking back at this first year, I’m proud of the work my team has done to fulfill and build on that promise.

Take the children with you!

Body
It is so important to expose our children to different places, things, and opportunities. It can seem daunting and challenging even thinking about packing up your family for a vacation in another state or even just a couple of towns over, but the challenges, memories, and exposure you give your children by doing this can help their development. By exposing your families to places and people outside of their normal, you are setting them up to thrive in a unique environment, helping them better their problemsolving skills, and help them improve their interpersonal and communication skills all while making memories that will last a lifetime according to Jordan Wilbur -Nebraska Extension 4-H Assistant based in Buffalo County.

Happy Holidays from Dean Larry Gossen,

Body
It’s the most wonderful time of the year. Starting in November, through the Thanksgiving season, and all the way through the end of the calendar year, I just love the atmosphere, the attitudes, and the opportunities to show our gratitude.

Remembering a Nebraska icon

Body
This week, we will celebrate the 150th birthday of one of Nebraska’s foremost literary icons: Willa Cather. Cather, who died in 1947, was born on December 7, 1873. One hundred and fifty years after that day, her legacy lives on through her poignant novels — including American classics “O Pioneers!” and “My Ántonia” — and her profound influence on our country.

A date that will live in infamy

Body
December 7, 1941 is a “date that will live in infamy” as stated by President Theodore Roosevelt in his famous speech after the events of the Pearl Harbor bombing. That event let to the United States involvement in World War II. President’s Roosevelt’s speech was a call to arms and a declaration of war against this act of aggression by a foreign nation. He never wanted us to forget what happened.

It’s prime time for college decisions

Body
By NCTA Recruiter Andela Taylor Holiday preparations and celebrations are the priority for most of us in December. Still, since 2015, when my eldest child was weighing college decisions, researching and applying for scholarships, and navigating the FAFSA, the stress related to this phase of life for students and parents loomed large.

Farm Bill Extension Welcome, But Re-Authorization Still Needed

Body
Agriculture is the heart and soul of what we do in Nebraska. Our farmers and ranchers feed and fuel the world. Ensuring the strength of our agriculture sector is critical for Nebraska, but also our country. Food security is national security. Supply chain disruptions during the pandemic reinforced the need to prioritize food production at home. As Senator, I am working to ensure we pass a comprehensive Farm Bill that supports this.
