NSAA awards local students with Academic All-State Honors

The Nebraska School Activities Association (NSAA) is pleased to announce the student recipients of the Winter 2020-21 Nebraska Chiropractic Physicians Association (NCPA) Academic All-State Awards. Since 2006 this NSAA Award Program has recognized students who meet the criteria for nomination by their school in the season of their activity.

Eagles, Trojans compete at Cambridge Relays

The Cambridge and Southern Valley Boys and Girls Track teams participated in the Cambridge Trojan Relays on Wednesday. The seven-team meet consisted of only relays no individual efforts were scored. In the field events, the three competitors’ best efforts were totaled to determine the event placings except in the pole vault and high jump only two competitors were entered.

ELWOOD - On a typical cool and breezy day for early track season, the Arapahoe, Hi-Line and Southwest track and field teams competed at the Hi-Line Invite in Elwood Tuesday. In the boys’ competition, Hi-Line finished fourth, followed by Southwest in fifth and Arapahoe in seventh.

10 years ago Speaker Charlotte Endorf will present a program on Children’s Orphan Train on Saturday, April 9 at the Spring Fling. 20 years ago Elwood’s MODS club representative were on hand last week for the EMS skills night to present checks to the Elwood Rescue and Johnson Lake Rescue Departments in the amount of $380 each from their Christmas House tours.

BEAVER CITY -- In affirming their oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States, the Constitution of the State of Nebraska, and the laws of the state of Nebraska, the three-member Furnas County Board of Commissioners unanimously adopted Resolution #1776 during their regular meeting on March 23, 2021.

Holbrook Music Club to cease meetings after 50 years

For 50 years, a small group of ladies who enjoy music have gathered together. In February 1971, Jan Andrews had a vision to organize a group of ladies that were interested in music, thus the Holbrook Music Club was organized with 18 members. During the 50 years there have been 55 ladies who have joined at various times. At the present time there are 14 members: Lucetta Andrews, Jeanene Faw, Susie Foster, Dee Glanzer, Connie Graning, Elaine Haussler, Shelly Johnson, Betty McKinney, Judy Maline, Ida Mae McBride, Patty Reese, Linda Schaben, Jeanne Schroeder and Mary Lou Wineland. With their dues they have provided partial scholarships for 48 students from the Holbrook, Arapahoe and Cambridge Schools who were outstanding in music to various summer music camps.
