Lelia Haussler celebrated her 100th birthday on Sunday, August 15, 2021 with her family and friends. She celebrated with grandchildren and one great-grandchild at the Hunt Nebraska Lodge on Saturday evening and on Sunday with many more relatives at the McCoy family reunion at the Ella Missing Community Center.

Downtown Revitalization meets with public at Arapahoe City Park

On August 17th, the Downtown Revitalization Design Concept Presentation project team members revealed the design concepts created as a result of the Design Studio Open House that was held in June. They discussed some of the projects they have in mind to improve the appearance of downtown Arapahoe such as replacing sidewalks and adding some greenery. The Arapahoe City Council was expected to further discuss the proposals at its regular meeting this week. A report from that meeting will be available in the next edition.

FFA Chapter assists in harvesting grapes at Arapahoe

On Sunday, August 15th the Arapahoe-Holbrook FFA Chapter helped harvest grapes at the Old Cellar Vineyard in Arapahoe. Over the last three years, the Arapahoe-Holbrook FFA Chapter has been harvesting seven rows of "Itasca" grapes at the vineyard. This year the FFA chapter had around 30 members that were able to volunteer their time to harvest just over 5 and half ton (11,000 pounds) of grapes by hand.

Farm Service Agency Announces Changes To Noninsured Crop Disaster Assistance Program for Coverage of Grazing Land Acres

Beaver City, Nebraska, September 2, 2021 — Furnas County U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Farm Service Agency (FSA) Executive Director Dillon Breinig is reminding producers of the availability of the Noninsured Crop Disaster Assistance Program (NAP). NAP covers losses from natural disasters on crops for which no permanent federal crop insurance program is available, including forage and grazing crops, fruits, vegetables, and more.
