Marilyn J. Malleck age 79, formerly of Indianola, NE, passed away at the Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, KS on January 24, 2022. Rosary will be recited at the Herrmann Jones Funeral Chapel on Friday, January 28, 2022 at 7:00 PM with Father Greg Pawloski. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, January 29, 2022, at 10:30 AM at St Catherine’s Catholic Church in Indianola. Interment will be in the St. Catherine’s Cemetery. 10 years ago Southwest students who were recognized at the RPAC Art Show were: Best of School Taylor Brooks “Indian Heritage” 1 st Honorable Mention; Tommy Slater “Delusion” 2 nd Honorable Mention; and 3 rd Honorable Mention Marissa Chambers. Tanner Teel earned his 150 th career win and his 100 th career pin in the same match on Friday night at the RPAC wrestling tourney.

10 years ago Volcanoes were popular with the seventh graders of the 1 st Annual Science Fair held at the Elwood School. Kallen Nickell chose Volcano Eruptions for his project.

10 years ago The Zoo Crew held Winterfest 2012, a benefit for Justin Hamel and Christopher Denton, who were both injured to motorcycle accidents last July. The benefit raised more than $11,000 for both individuals medical costs.

10 years ago Members of the Arapahoe Fire Department gathered for a training account Sunday evening, January 22 to train on the new Phillips Heartstart MRX monitor/defibrillator. At the City Council meeting members received registration forms for the Mid-Winter Conference to be held February 27-28.

25 Years Ago January 23, 1997 The Furnas County Sheriff and Beaver City Marshal are investigating the shooting of the City›s well houses. City Marshal Bob Hester reported that the police department received a grant for $1,367.76 to purchase a lap top computer for use in the police car.
