Medicine Creek Days to highlight 75th Anniversary of Medicine Creek Dam

Cambridge, Nebraska, March 13, 2023 –As Spring begins to peak around the corner, preparations for the annual Medicine Creek Days celebration are in full swing. Coordinated by the Cambridge Area Chamber of Commerce, Medicine Creek Days features events and activities for every age group including the popular big wheel races, street dance, couples golf tournament and, the celebration’s flagship event, the downtown parade.

CAMBRIDGE - The Cambridge Board of Education met Thursday over lunch to approve some additional board policies as well as a resignation while considering the 2023-24 master calendar. The first business item brought out a great deal of debate and conversation and, in the end, no action.

25 Years Ago March 12, 1998 Up to 15 members of the 1997 championship Cornhusker football team will face the Southern Valley faculty team in a basketball contest this Sunday at Southern Valley. Lunch, raffles and autographs will also be part of the day.

100 Years Ago March 22, 1923 Last Wednesday evening the wind veered to the north and filled with a fine snow. The Village Board rejected the petition to vote on the pool hall question on the grounds that it was illegally drawn.

Cambridge Golf Team includes Spencer Hagedorn, Brodie Besler, Caleb Moyer, Addison Jones, John Hilker, Head Coach Del Schoenfish, Calvin Wineland, Braxton Miller, Taylor Kubik, Travis Kubik, Kelby Feddern, Coach Lyle Calvert, and Dexter Besler. Virginia Rice was the winner of $200 in Chamber Bucks from the Chamber March promotion and Virginia donated the $200 to the Cambridge Food Pantry to help Wilsonville Women’s Society mission to support the Food Pantry.

The Elwood Student Council recognized a student and staff manager who exemplifies “Pirate Pride.” Baskets of goodies were given to Lexie Remmenga and Deb Pickenpaugh. Fifteen Gosper County 4-H members finished their BB Gun project with the annual “County Shoot” on Saturday, March 9.
