Southern Valley upends GACC in State Semifinals

LINCOLN - For three quarters, the Southern Valley girls basketball team had drawn the high-octane, scoring machine of Guardian Angels Central Catholic into the depths of a rock fight. After surrendering the lead, the Eagles made the biggest plays down the stretch and rode their defense to a 34-29 victory that vaulted them into the State Finals.

LINCOLN - For the second-straight day and for the third game in 38 hours, the Southern Valley girls basketball team kept an explosive offensive team in check. Squaring off with Pender, the defending Class C2 champion, in the Class D1 State Title Game Saturday morning, the Eagles held the top-seeded Pendragons 22 points under their scoring average.

10 years ago Lori Moore of Arapahoe shot a 10 x 10 whitetail buck Wednesday and scored a 187 3/8 to be in Boone and Crocket Club. Lori also received recognition from Nebraska Game and Parks Commission and was listed as a Nebraska State Big Game Trophy.
