John Strand of Arapahoe was inducted into the Chadron State College Athletic Hall of Fame on Saturday, Oct. 5 after he was a football standout for the Eagles 2004-07. A native of Imperial, Strand is shown with his wife, Amy, and their children, Emma, Elsie, Easton, Eva and Eleanora. He is a math teacher and coach at Arapahoe High School.

Among those attending a Baby Shower for Aurora Grabenstein at the Hope Lutheran Church near Smithfield on Sunday afternoon were Tricia Grabenstein of Smithfield, Ginger Adkisson, Sheila Adkisson and Jordan and Berkley Aden of Farnam, Kendi and Laurel Olson of Gothenburg, Ellen Adkisson of Cozad, Cailey Terrazas of Arnold, Wendy Jo Clabaugh of Elm Creek, Tammy and Kerri Jo Hansen of Burwell and Teresa Babcock and Millie Babcock of Long Pine. It was hosted by Jordan and Cailey.

Members of the Maywood FFA chapter partnered up with the Maywood Lions Club for their annual fall highway trash pick up on September 29. There were nine bags of trash collected on the highway around Maywood. This October, Waypoint Bank joins the American Bankers Association and banks nationwide to promote an industry- wide campaign educating consumers about the persistent threat of phishing scams. Starting October 1, Waypoint Bank joined 1,400 other banks for National Cybersecurity Awareness Month, which includes the new #PracticeSafeChecks campaign and the 5th annual #BanksNeverAsk-That campaign.

Public invited to participate in Christmas Cantata

The public is invited to participate in a Christmas Cantata on Saturday, December 14, 7 p.m. The choir is open to everyone. All rehearsals and the performance are at St. Paul’s Lutheran in Cambridge. The music is selections from the modern Christmas musical “What Child Is This?” by Joel Raney. Rehearsals are listed below and audio links to the music can be found on St. Paul’s Facebook page.
