Cambridge’s McCurdy and family are safe, but floods devastate their new hometown near Asheville

Body
“It looks like bombs were dropped here,” is what Katie McCurdy says about the damage left in the wake of Hurricane Helene in western North Carolina. McCurdy, who graduated from Cambridge, now lives in the town of Clyde about 30 minutes from Asheville, where she works. She moved to North Carolina in July 2023 for more options in education and recreation. Mc-Curdy communicated with the Valley Voice via email using her phone. They have no internet service, and her phone service is spotty at best.

Main Street Revival brings mural to downtown Cambridge

Body
CAMBRIDGE - Three years ago, two Cambridge women began brainstorming ideas about how to freshen up and add some character to the Cambridge downtown. The two - Jessica Alexander and Ashley Gerlach - had a number of ideas, but one of their first priorities was to restore some original painted signage on downtown buildings. The second was to add a large mural that would bring the unique combination of color, history and art.

However, “belonging” is much deeper than being a part of a team; the interactions within the group have the most impact on youth.

Combatting the Chinese communist party

They pursue economic and trade policies that undermine our economy. They repeatedly violate American sovereignty with spy stations, spy balloons, and other forms of espionage. They fuel the fentanyl crisis which continues to kill in Nebraska and across the country.
