HAYES CENTER - The Maywood-Hayes Center volleyball team made a point of getting off to better starts in each set in its Subdistrict opener against Sutton Tuesday. The Wolves had found success rallying from deficits the past couple weeks, but wanted to start stronger.

BENKELMAN - The Medicine Valley volleyball team saw its season come to a close Monday in the first round of the subdistrict tournament. The Raiders dropped their match to Paxton, 25-11, 25-19, 25-13.

BARTLEY - Four local teams made up the majority of the field at the Subdistrict D1-10 Tournament in Bartley Monday and Tuesday, a tournament that played out to seed. Monday, Arapahoe opened the tournament with a 25-21, 20-25, 25-17, 25-20 victory over Hi-Line.

O’NEILL - After a strong start defensively, the Cambridge football team had an opportunity to grab momentum on the road in its playoff opener Thursday. But after missing a couple opportunities to grab a lead, Cambridge saw St.

game were limited, but the Roughriders forced three turnovers as Kelley and Jacob Barber each had interceptions and Braxten Hammond jumped on a fumble. Billeter and Williams each had nine tackles for Southwest and Barber had eight while Gage Hammond had a tackle for loss.

With a 20-59 loss Friday night, football season wrapped up for Medicine Valley. Seven of the Raiders’ eight opponents made the Class D6 16-team playoffs, including last week’s opponent Wauneta- Palisade.

But offense was tougher to come by in the second half, burdened by injuries to Cacy, Fisher and Hayden Sich. When Sutton struck for a 55-yard touchdown pass to draw within 21-16 in the third quarter, there was no longer any margin for error.
