Two new board members were sworn in for the Village of Bartley on Tuesday, March 11. Darlene Brooks (pictured left) and Sheri Hink-Wagner (pictured right) were selected by the board to serve the unexpired 2-year terms that were left vacant due to a recent recall election. Brooks and Hink-Wagner were sworn in as the last item on the agenda of Bartley’s regular board meeting.

The Elwood Speech Team competed at Maxwell on Saturday, March 8, with Kara Brockman placing 1st in Persuasive Speaking, 4th in Extemporaneous, and 5th in Triathlon (overall performance in 3 events). Christdolyn Hagan and Adrianna Seberger earned 4th place in Duet Acting.

Elwood students raise $4,000

February 29th is designated as Rare Disease Day. Throughout the last year, with community and school efforts combined, Elwood Public Schools raised over $4000 to show their support for the four students who each have their very own Rare Disease. The money will be given out equally between four different organizations chosen by their parents.

Cub Scout Pack #236 held their annual Blue and Gold Banquet

Saturday night was the annual Cub Scout Blue and Gold Banquet held at the Ella Missing Community Center in Arapahoe. They enjoyed a soup supper, cake auction, and they received their badges for the year. Parents pinned badges on their scout and Mark Hamel of Heartland Partners Realty auctioned off the cakes that were made and decorated by each of the scouts. Money raised goes towards camps and other expenses.

Area students recently named to UNL Dean’s List

LINCOLN, NE (02/03/2025), FEB 3, 2025 — More than 7,300 University of Nebraska-Lincoln students have been named to the Deans’ List for the fall semester of the 2024-25 academic year. Qualification for the Deans’ List varies among the eight undergraduate colleges and the Explore Center.
