Tidyman awarded full-ride Build Dakota scholarship

SIOUX FALLS, SD (06/11/2025)-- Connor Tidyman of Maywood, NE, has been awarded a full-ride Build Dakota Scholarship at Southeast Technical College. The competitive award will cover Tidyman’s tuition, fees, books, uniforms, tools and supplies as they complete the Welding program at STC. Now in its 11th year, the scholarship program has set recipient records for four consecutive years. All of this year’s scholars have an industry sponsor that finanically supports the scholarship.

Iowa State honors spring graduates

AMES, Iowa (June 16, 2025) - Nearly 4,600 graduates received degrees from Iowa State University this spring. Graduate and undergraduate commencement ceremonies were held May 1517. Phelps-Gosper County 4-H Small Animal Progress Show

Youth from Across Nebraska Compete at Phelps County 4-H Small Animal Progress Show in Holdrege, NE June 7, 2025. The Phelps County fairgrounds was bustling with activity as twentynine 4-H youth exhibited more than 100 animals during the 2025 Phelps County 4-H Small Animal Progress Show. A total of 107 animals were shown, with participants traveling from across Nebraska— including Boone, Custer, Frontier, Thayer, Lancaster, Adams, Hall, Clay, Harlan, Buffalo, Red Willow, and host county Phelps.

Eustis Veterans presented Quilts of Honor

The following Veterans from Eustis were presented Quilts of Honor Saturday, June 14th. The quilts were made and presented by the Prairie Quilts Guild from the Holdrege area. Approximately 30 ladies from this group have now made and presented 756 quilts to area veterans since 2017. Quilts of Honor is a national nonprofit organization founded by Gail Belmont, a veteran who served during the Vietnam War.

The 40th Annual Holbrook Carp Shoot was held on June 8th. In the Adult division, 12 teams competed.

Arapahoe Class of 1950

The 75-year Honor Class, the Class of 1950, was represented at the Arapahoe Alumni Banquet, by Donna (Breinig) McCoy and Lyle Breinig. There were 38 graduates in 1950 and eight are still living. There were five Breinig kids in the class, all being related in one way or another; three are living and two attended the banquet.
