Cambridge City Council met in regular session on Monday, May 18, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. After the Pledge of Allegiance and the Open Meeting Law announcement, the Council approved the Consent Agenda, which included the minutes from the previous City Council meeting, the claims, the Library Board Minutes, as well as the Planning Commission Minutes, and Building Permits. Building Permits were issued to Williams Storage, Trinity Community Church, Tri Valley Health System, Patrick Horwart, Toby Webb, Larry and Mary Jo Young, Nebraska Corn Processing, and Troy Mousel.

Glenn D. DeVries, age 89, of Trumbull, NE, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at Eventide Prairie Commons, Grand Island, Nebraska.

Darryl J. Hosick, 86, of Stockville passed away peacefully on May 14, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

Larry Arlyn Lambert, 72, of Grand Island, Nebraska, went to his heavenly home on May 18, 2026, after courageously battling complications from liver disease and, in the end, cancer. He was born on September 12, 1953, in McCook, Nebraska, to Dorothy and Arlyn Lambert.

The Cambridge Board of Education met for an Americanism Committee Meeting at 6:45 p.m. with board members Virgil Banzhaf, Amy Sines, and Kim Huxoll present. At 7:00, they started the regular meeting. All board members were present. After the Pledge of Allegiance and the Open Meetings Law announcement, the board approved the agenda. There was no public comment.

McCOOK, Neb. — The 2026 Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center Brake for Breakfast event made a significant impact across Nebraska this spring, bringing cancer screening awareness and prevention resources directly to communities throughout the state.

Blayklee Farr of Maywood, Nebraska and daughter of Dallas & Lindsay Farr has been awarded a scholarship from Consolidated Companies, Inc. for the 2026-2027 school year. Blayklee will receive a scholarship of $2,000 for higher education. Blayklee is a graduate of Maywood High School.
