The heinous attack on Israel by Hamas this month sent shockwaves throughout the Middle East and across the world. War in one part of the world has a ripple effect — we all feel its impact. In this case, the United States is especially affected. Hamas killed American citizens in its assaults on innocent people across Israel. It is holding American citizens hostage underground in Gaza. Hamas has American blood on its hands.

We want to thank the city guys, especially Rich Carpenter for maintaining the south Nature Park of Oxford. It is a great place to walk and have family gatherings, and fishing and the ball field.

Last week, tragedy struck in Israel. The Iranbacked terrorist group Hamas brutally attacked men, women, and children in a hateful act of war. The butchering of babies, the burning of human bodies, the kidnapping, rape, beating, and murder of Israelis is despicable and shocking to the core.

Aristotle is said to have referred to the female as a mutilated male, and this philosophy seems to have carried forward into much more modern times. In 1977, official FDA guidelines recommended that women of “childbearing potential” be excluded from early stage clinical trials.

Last week, Islamic terrorists from Hamas pushed into Israel in a surprise attack from land, sea, and air. The stories, images, and videos of the attacks depict a level of savagery that shocks the conscience. Hamas murdered civilians and soldiers alike. Over 1,300 Israelis and at least 27 Americans are dead. The Prime Minister’s office said Israeli Defense Forces found babies and toddlers Hamas had beheaded. The terrorists massacred hundreds of young people attending a music festival. They barbarically raped women and paraded them bleeding from the assaults through the streets. They kidnapped innocent civilians, including American citizens. Hamas continues to use children and civilians in Gaza as human shields. It’s sick and evil.

Journaling with children can help them be successful in various avenues of their life including in school, at home, and in building relationships. Keeping a journal with your tweens or teens allows them a place to share their feelings and offers them a safe outlet to express themselves says Nebraska Extension 4-H Educator Rhonda Herrick based in Kearney/Franklin County.

Last weekend, America was brought to the brink of a government shutdown. This happened, in part, because President Joe Biden and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer squeezed the calendar.

For some reason autumn and popcorn just seem to go together. It is a great snack or treat for Fall get together and how many can pass up a bag of freshly popped corn at a ball game? Nebraska is the #1 producer of popcorn in the United States, producing nearly 45% of our nation’s crop.

This is downright shameful of me, but I am going to write it anyway. I have a family member that I have been meaning to tell a story and everytime I think I will, I get sidetracked.
