Rural mail carrier, Scott Haussler, is shown with the latest addition in postal service in Arapahoe. This form of rural delivery is called Central Box Unit and provides delivery for up to sixteen customers. Offers convenience to the customers has its locked boxes and two parcel post boxes.

Members of the newly formed Arapahoe Optimist Club will be sponsoring a “haunted house” for three nights next week in Arapahoe. A “Mad Scientist” room, a “Bat and Rat” room, special Halloween room, maze and funeral parlor.
One of the big projects of the Nebraska Department of Roads is nearing completion south of Arapahoe on Highway 283. Bridges over Republican River and Muddy Creek have been replaced this summer.

Installation service was held Sunday evening, at 7:00 p.m. in Arapahoe for Pastor Don Porter at Trinity Lutheran Church.
Beginning Wednesday the community rallied with combines, trucks, etc. to harvest 200 acres of milo, 200 acres of corn, and 100 acres of soybeans at the Neal McCoy farm. Neal and Madeline McCoy’s 21 year-old daughter Jane was diagnosed with Pulmonary Hypertension and exploratory surgery and taken to San Francisco, CA.

Jerry L. Smith brought his archery deer to the check in station in Arapahoe in a rather unique way - -yup, that’s a motorcycle. Smith downed his threepoint buck north of Hendley after a bus spooked it out in the open.

Friday is the last day of duty for Clarence Helms, who has been acting postmaster since August 1960 in Holbrook. Arrangements have been made for Leland Rogers another resident north of town to take over acting postmaster on Saturday.
The Arapahoe Chamber of Commerce will be giving a free ticket to a show at the Crystal Theatre and treats to each person entering the parade.
