Harlan Gydesen was presented a plaque during halftime at the Elwood vs Southwest football game on Thursday. The plaque was in recognition for being a bus driver for Elwood School for 30 years. Elwood First United Methodist Church will hold their annual Soup and Pie Supper on Wednesday, November 2 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.

20 years ago The C.S.C.G. deputies Lindsey Monter, Kelly

The C.S.C.G. deputies Lindsey Monter, Kelly Cooksley, Chris Remmenga, and John Gutschow seemed to enjoy putting their prisoner, Dusty VonLoh behind bars during County Government Day.

Work has begun in Elwood for their street improvement projects will include new curbs, gutters, and surfacing many of the Elwood streets.

Taking part in the Mock Trial competition this year at Elwood are Eric Schievelbein, Dale Miller, Niki Weismann, Amy Hilton, Sara Beck, Theresa Remmenga, Nora Merker, Shari Knoerzer, Jill Brell, Alyssa Lucas, Melissa Evans and Michelle Mues Instructor, Coach Dennis Fornander, and Carlton Clark attorney-coach.

Craig Bagstad of Tacoma, WA was a very lucky young man following a recent accident. Going around a corner southwest of Elwood on a gravel road the corn shifted in the back of the truck, causing the truck to roll down the left side of the road. Postal carrier Terry Lerdall came upon Bagstad on his route, and called 911 from a farm home. 40 years ago

Bob Houlden stands by a two-sow house recently completed in the high school vo-ag shop, and was loaded ready to deliver to the farm. He will start a hog-raising project soon. Total material cost for the 7x14 building was $220. Had eve ventilators and wired for use of heat lamps during cold weather.

The bell at United Methodist Church rang Sunday morning for services after ten years of silence. John Remmenga and son built a red brick pedestal like tower to house it last week in the churchyard.
