The Republican Party District #305 (9 counties in southwest Nebraska) will meet Sunday, April 6, 2025 at Farkleberry’s (100 Troth St.) in Hayes Center, Nebraska. Meet/Greet at 3:30 pm followed by a host of speakers at 4:00 pm.

Schoolhouse relocated to Indianola

INDIANOLA – The first of two buildings that were donated by Vickie Malleck to the Indianola Historical Society was successfully moved to its corner location Tuesday morning. Both the schoolhouse, which was moved Tuesday, and blacksmith shop, which was scheduled to be moved Thursday, were restored by Malleck’s late husband, Griff, who passed away in March of last year.
The schoolhouse donated to the Indianola Historical Society arrived at its new location at the corner of Highway 6/34 and Fourth Street Tuesday morning.

Agencies respond to motor vehicle collision

On Sunday at around 3:39 p.m., the Frontier County Sheriff ’s Office responded to a motor vehicle collision with injuries on Highway 83 near the Red Willow-Frontier County line. The preliminary investigation showed a southbound Nissan Altima crossed over the center line and onto the northbound lane’s shoulder, colliding with a northbound Dodge pickup and trailer head-on.

More Air Quality Monitors for Southwest Nebraska

Southwest Nebraska Public Health Department (SWNPHD) announces additional air monitors to be set up in the nine-county health district. Last year, in collaboration with the Nebraska Environmental Public Health Tracking Program, SWNPHD installed 4 air monitors in Keith, Red Willow, Chase, and Dundy counties. Five additional air monitors have been acquired and will be installed in the remaining counties of Perkins, Hayes, Hitchcock, Frontier, and Furnas by the end of April.
