Cambridge City Council approves 2023-33 Comprehensive Master Plan

Cambridge City Council met for a Public Hearing for the Comprehensive Master Plan 2023-2033 at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, November 4, 2024. After the Pledge of Allegiance and the Open meeting law announcement, Jason Combs from Miller & Associates presented the Comprehensive Master Plan. Mayor David Gunderson brought up that some of the maps in the plan seem to be older maps of Cambridge. Maps will be updated, and new maps will be sent to swap out the incorrect versions. There was no discussion from the public, and the hearing was closed.

Seeking input on health concerns

Tri Valley Health System is seeking community input on local conditions that impact health in our area for their 2025 Community Health Needs Assessment. Over the next few months, Tri Valley Health System will be working together with other area community leaders to update the Furnas County 2025 Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA).

NCTA Hosts Inaugural Precision Ag Conference

The Precision Ag Conference, presented by NCTA, West Central Research and Extension Center, Nebraska GIS/ LIS Association and Council, will showcase the latest advancements in precision agriculture, emphasizing the importance of data-driven decision-making in farming. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn from industry experts, researchers, and practitioners about how precision agriculture can enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve crop yields, all while fostering stronger agricultural communities.

Vaccines for Children Public Clinics in November Southwest Nebraska Public Health Department (SWNPHD) will be offering Vaccines for Children at public clinics in November. Anyone two months of age and older are invited to get their vaccinations. Flu shots will be offered at all clinics in November for anyone six months of age and older. Now is the perfect opportunity to get a flu shot before the flu starts circulating.

ESu 11 Hosts World Language Concert for Area Schools

Approximately 230 central Nebraska students gathered at The Tassel in Holdrege on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 for a world language concert starring Edgar Rene from Puerto Rico. This concert is part of an international cultural experience for area high school students enrolled in Spanish classes. The ESU 11 Professional Development Department coordinated the event. Districts attending the concert included: Eustis-Farnam, Franklin, Axtell, Wilcox-Hildreth, Ansley, Loup City, McCook, Cozad, Amherst, Holdrege, and Horizon Middle School in Kearney.

SWnPHD offers low cost lab tests

Southwest Nebraska Public Health Department (SWNPHD) is partnering with Red Willow County Health Department in McCook to provide low-cost lab tests. These preventive lab tests can reveal a person’s risk for chronic diseases like heart disease, diabetes, and some cancers.
