Bartley Village Board accepts another resignation

During the October 8, 2024 regular meeting, the Bartley Village Board of Trustees accepted the resignation of Deidre Doyle as a trustee. Recently Chuck Pines was appointed to fulfill the term of Brandon Brott, who also recently resigned.

4-h achievement Day proclaimed in Phelps & Gosper County

National 4-H week is celebrated October 7 – 12. To celebrate, Phelps-Gosper 4-H staff & 4-H Council met with the Phelps & Gosper County Commissioners to proclaim the date of each county’s 4-H achievement banquet as “4-H Achievement Day”. 4-H empowers young people to be true leaders. True leaders are young people who have confidence, know how to work well with others, can endure through challenges, and will stick to a job until it gets done. In 4-H, we believe true leaders aren’t born–they are grown.

Main Street Revival brings mural to downtown Cambridge

CAMBRIDGE - Three years ago, two Cambridge women began brainstorming ideas about how to freshen up and add some character to the Cambridge downtown. The two - Jessica Alexander and Ashley Gerlach - had a number of ideas, but one of their first priorities was to restore some original painted signage on downtown buildings. The second was to add a large mural that would bring the unique combination of color, history and art.

Cambridge’s McCurdy and family are safe, but floods devastate their new hometown near Asheville

“It looks like bombs were dropped here,” is what Katie McCurdy says about the damage left in the wake of Hurricane Helene in western North Carolina. McCurdy, who graduated from Cambridge, now lives in the town of Clyde about 30 minutes from Asheville, where she works. She moved to North Carolina in July 2023 for more options in education and recreation. Mc-Curdy communicated with the Valley Voice via email using her phone. They have no internet service, and her phone service is spotty at best.
