Arapahoe Council approves purchases for planters

The Arapahoe City Council met on Tuesday, April 2 at 7:30 pm for their regular meeting. Before the council meeting an open hearing for the community redevelopment authority was held to approve the sale of lots 10, 11, and 12. The lots were sold to Cakin Care of Business. There was some brief discussion and the building may be complete much sooner than originally thought. It might be up by the end of May.

Hunt Safe Class offered after taking online course

Nebraska Game and Parks Hunt Safe Class will be held Saturday, May 4 from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Students ages 11 through 15 who have completed Hunter-ed and/or Bowhunter-ed oline courses must attend the Hunt Safe Session in order to be issued a certificate of completion. If you’ve completed the online course in the past 12 months, your voucher is still valid for certification. Please note, students 16 and older are wwelcome to attend but this Hunt Safe Session course is not required for certification.

The Frontier Quilter’s Guild presented the first baby of 2024 born in the Curtis Maywood area a Baby quilt. Lainey Scott daughter of Lane and Jess Scott of Maywood was presented with the quilt made by Sue Werkmeister at the guild’s meeting Saturday April 6.

Moore selected to 2024-25 NSAA Student Advisory Committee

The Nebraska School Activities Association (NSAA) is pleased to announce the individuals selected to the NSAA Student Advisory Committee for the 2024-25 and 2025-26 school years. These new members will join the 10 seniors serving their second term. Arapahoe – Lauren Moore Centennial – Abigail Saunders Gering – Jacelyn Brown Gothenburg – Logan Feather Humboldt-Table Rock – Steinauer – Elizabeth Bstandig-Rowland Lincoln Northwest – Bianca Vannier Louisville – Houston Klein North Platte – Henry Cline Thayer Central – Laken Wiedel Wayne – Reagan McGuire Out of many outstanding applicants, ten were selected to serve for their junior and senior years. These students were selected from the Nebraska’s six NSAA districts. The selection process was extremely competitive and focused on recommendations by school personnel, student answers to questions, and participation in various interscholastic activities and athletics.

Furnas County 4-H Carnival held in Arapahoe Saturday

The Furnas County 4-H Carnival was held on Saturday at the Ella Missing Center in Arapahoe. (Above) The cake walk and bounce house is always a big hit. (Right) Colbie Houghtelling and Reese tenBensel were the big raffle ticket sales winners. They each won a scholarship to 4-H Camp and a candy bouquet.

Holbrook Lions Club Consignment Sale held Saturday

A large crowd attended the sale in Holbrook on Saturday. It was a very windy day with a little rain late in the afternoon but not enough to keep the buyers away. There were around 600-700 bidders. They had great help from club members and from the Cambridge Lions Club members.
