Cambridge City Council approves pool hours, manager and lifeguard wages

Cambridge City Council met in regular session on Monday, April 17, 2023. All Council members were present for the meeting. After the Pledge of Allegiance, Council held a public hearing for the Citizen’s Advisory Review Committee for the City of Cambridge Local Option Municipal Sales Tax (LB840). Melissa Jackson, Economic Development Director, presented the report. After review, Council closed the public hearing. A motion was made and seconded to approve the Citizen’s Advisory Report as submitted. The motion passed.

Oxford Clean-Up Day April 29

Clean-up Day in Oxford is scheduled for Saturday, April 29. Residents are asked to have items they want hauled away at their front curb by Saturday morning or a few days before. Residents are being asked NOT to place their haul away items in alleys as volunteers will not be going down the alleys. The dump pile behind the light office will be open the week of Monday, April 24th – Sunday, April 30th for those who want to haul their items themselves.

Bose to attend Boys State

Kamden Bose, a junior at Southern Valley High School, has been selected to represent Stamford at the Cornhusker Boys’ State to be held June 4–10, 2023, at the University of Nebraska main campus in Lincoln. Merlin Palmer American Legion Post #233 of Stamford is sponsoring Kamden. He is one of about 20,000 boys across the nation who will attend Boys’ State this summer.

Oxford Nuisance Officer To Begin Reviews

In an effort to clean up the community, the Oxford Village Board has entered into a Nuisance Code Enforcement Agreement with West Central Nebraska Development District, Inc. (WCNDD). The Development District has been appointed as Nuisance Officer for the Village, and will begin the process with windshield assessments in a Village designated area doing so by traveling on public streets and alleyways.

The Cambridge City Council has approved moving forward with the Nuisance Abatement Program, administered through West Central Nebraska Development District, Inc., and residents are encouraged to clean up items in violation of the nuisance ordinance.
