By Erin Laborie, Beef Systems Extension Educator In 2017, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) implemented the Veterinary Feed Directive (VFD), which brought over the counter (OTC) feed additive antibiotics under the oversight of veterinarians. As part of the FDA’s plan to support the judicious use of antibiotics, all remaining medically important OTC antibiotics will require a prescription effective June 11, 2023.

The accomplishments of North Platte Community College students and employees were recognized during the 2023 Honors Convocation Monday afternoon at NPCC. Honorees included representatives from various college clubs and organizations and recipients of the following awards.

LINCOLN, Nebraska, April 17, 2023 – The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced that agricultural producers and private landowners can begin signing up for the Grassland Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) starting today and running through May 26, 2023. Among CRP enrollment opportunities, Grassland CRP is a unique working lands program, allowing producers and landowners to continue grazing and haying practices while conserving grasslands and promoting plant and animal biodiversity as well as healthier soil.

McCook Community College has released its list of graduates for the 2022-23 academic year. The following students will be recognized during a commencement ceremony at 10 a.m.

In celebration of Arbor Day on Friday, April 28, Tri-Basin Natural Resources District (NRD) will give away free tree seedlings to district residents. In Holdrege, the event will be held at the Tri-Basin NRD office at 1723 Burlington Street and will be hosted by the NRD in cooperation with the Holdrege Municipal Tree Board during the Holdrege Area Chamber of Commerce’s weekly Coffee Connection. District residents are invited to visit the NRD office or stop by one of five other locations throughout the district to pick up their free tree or shrub seedling.
