Southern Valley teacher Gina Ellis was honored during the annual Water Jamboree that was held on April 25 and 26 at Camp Joy and Harlan County Reservoir. This is the 30th year of the event and Mrs. Ellis has attended every one of those years. Ellis was presented a plaque by NRD general manager Todd Siel. There will also be a tree planted in her honor at a site yet to be determined.

4th annual arapahoe Gala

The 4th Annual Arapahoe Gala was held on April 15th at the Ella Missing Community Center in Arapahoe. The event included both a mobile bidding auction for people who could bid on the silent auction items from home, and a live auction that evening. Guests who attended the gala event that evening enjoyed a cocktail hour with party games, a catered meal, and dance. The proceeds from this gala event will be given to the Arapahoe-Holbrook Public Schools as they complete the build of a new playground /obstacle course area that will be located east of the basketball court near the football field.

CNPPID and Dawson PPD plan to refile merger petition with Nebraska Power Review Board

LINCOLN – The Nebraska Power Review Board has held that it cannot approve the merger petition between The Central Nebraska Public Power and Irrigation District and Dawson Public Power District based on a technical issue in the charter documents. The denial was without prejudice, meaning that the merger documents can be re-submitted for approval. Both districts are committed to working together to update the charter language and move forward with the merger as Platte River Public Power and Irrigation District.
