Johnson Lake near Lexington is cleaning up after an EF-1 tornado struck the area on May 5. The tornado traveled approximately 5 miles across the lake causing damage to trees, cabins and structures at private properties along the lake.

The first annual Daddy/Daughter Date Night was hosted by the Elwood Library, There were 42 in attendance and a fun time was had by all. Jesse Naputi kindly donated his time as our DJ. They danced, decorated cookies, had and ice cream sundae bar and took pictures. There was a lot of giggling going on!

Farmers and ranchers work hard every day to provide quality care for their cattle, practice stewardship of the land, and produce a wholesome, nutritious beef product for consumers.

We have some great students on campus who recognize the value of their education in preparing them for the workforce. Many will continue their education at a four-year institution, but the foundation they have laid at NCTA makes them a stronger and more prepared student at the next level.

Beaver City Prepares for July 4th Celebration

BEAVER CITY – The City Council was able to conduct business for their regular bimonthly meeting in under one hour on Monday, May 15. There were no public comments, but the board discussed the potential need for the health subcommittee to look at some houses in town to determine if steps should be taken to ensure public safety.

Elwood’s Wooters qualifies for College National Finals Rodeo

Two members of the Mid-Plains Community College Rodeo Team have qualifi ed for the College National Finals Rodeo, and the MPCC Stampede has been named Regional Rodeo of the Year. The news follows the final competition of the season for the Great Plains Region – the Nebraska Cornhusker Rodeo hosted by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Friday and Saturday in Lincoln.
