(Lincoln) July 15, 2022 – Vikram Menon of Omaha has been elected the 82nd Governor of Cornhusker Boys’ State. 209 high school juniors from across Nebraska participated in the 82nd Session of The American Legion Cornhusker Boys’ State, June 5 - 11 at the University of Nebraska Lincoln downtown campus. The annual citizenship program, sponsored by the Nebraska American Legion, is designed to provide youths with a better understanding of how a city, county, and state governments operate.

The Nebraska Department of Agriculture is accepting applications for grants through the Independent Processor Assistance Program. Johnathan Hladik, policy director at the Center for Rural Affairs, said the agency is expected to distribute nearly $10 million from the American Rescue Plan Act to Nebraskans, in an effort to improve and expand the state's meatprocessing capabilities.

“Oxford did a great job” hosting Plains tSunami Championship Meet

OXFORD – The population of Oxford more than doubled on Saturday, July 16, 2022 as it was the sight for the Plains tSunami Swim League championship. The event brought 1,000+ people to town. The league has grown over the years and includes teams from a large portion of southwest and south central Nebraska, parts of Kansas and Colorado. The League registered just under 850 swimmer on 29 teams this summer. This included four new teams from Norton and Oberlin, Kansas, Wray, Colorado and Ogallala, Nebraska.
