Furnas County Extension Office held their annual Inspire Academy on June 15th at the Blue-Ribbon Building in Beaver City. There were 12 kids signed up for our Desert Garden Workshop & 15 kids signed up for the String Art Workshop!

Mother Nature has warmed things up! And has made sure that anything that wasn’t tied down would be relocated. The heat has been bad enough, but the added wind has made it even more unpleasant. And summer is just beginning.

The Red Willow County Republican Party will meet for their June meeting on June 28, 2022, at Bedore Barn-Marlene’s Kitchen. Meet/Greet begins at 6:30 pm followed by the business meeting at 7:00 pm. Information about the State Convention to be held in Keaney, NE on July 9, 2022 is on the agenda. Elizabeth Tegtmeier, candidate for the State Board of Education, has extended a special invitation to the group and all interested persons to attend an evening of celebration and Inspiration to kickoff her campaign for the general election to be held at the Homestead Pumpkin Patch, North Platte, NE, on June 30, 2022. An RSVP is requested by June 23. Details can be found on the Red Willow County GOP facebook page. Kathy Wilmot, local conservative candidate for the University of Nebraska Regents, is continuing her campaign and has attended 2 of our monthly meetings thanking the group for our support. Other local GOP candidates are encouraged to attend the local GOP meetings as their campaigns progress to the November election. All area voters are encouraged to meet the candidates who will be representing us in our continued journey to preserve our great state and nation. Local participation is key to success! The local meetings are open to all area (you don’t have to live in Red Willow County) Republicans.

With a theme based on Hometown Heroes, Cambridge held its annual Medicine Creek Days celebration this weekend. Lt. Gov. visits Cambridge for pool ribbon cutting

Nebraska Lieutenant Governor Mike Foley visited Cambridge Wednesday to assist with a ribon-cutting on Cambridge’s newly-renovated pool as well as visits to other businesses. Nebraska’s Department of Economic Development provided a $310,000 grant otward the roughly $1.5 million pool project. Local Fire Departments Assess Needs Following Fires

As area fire departments are reflecting on recent deadly wildfires that claimed the lives of two firefighters and wreaked havoc throughout the area, the consensus among fire chiefs is that they hope the catastrophic events of this spring are a once-in-a lifetime occurrence.

10 years ago The Elwood Board of Education approved the contract to hire Colleen Slavik as the guidance counselor. Slavik is coming from Shenandoah, IA where she served as guidance counselor for several years in grades 7-12.
