10 years ago Extension Educator Linda Dannehl recently held a class at the Gosper County Courthouse on re-purposing items. The girls made pillows out of jeans, scarves out of t-shirts, and bulletin boards out of scraps of material.

100 Years Ago June 29, 1922 U.S. Jessup, former Oxford man and Hastings Chief of the Detective Bureau, succumbed to injuries when an automobile in which he was riding overturned as he seized the steering wheel from Joe Davis, a Hastings banker.

25 Years Ago June 19, 1997 A Wednesday night storm cut a wide swath in Furnas County with much crop damage. Some farms were even hit twice.

The Medicine Creek Days Road Rally began at Amateur’s Bar N Grill. Organizers Darcy and Dave Johnson and Brad and Laurie Farr, sent ten teams in vehicles winding through town, then northeast and west of Cambridge searching for flags, smiley faces and photo opportunities. After comparing time, mileage, and several other factors, Trevor and Genny Kubik were declared the winners and the Gunderson Family came in second. It was decided that the remainder of the entry fees should be donated to the fire department.

Cambridge School Board met in regular session on Tuesday, June 14, 2022. All Board members were present. Virgil Banzhaf was present as a guest. Board approved the agenda and then approved the minutes of the May 9, 2022 Board of Education meeting.
