KEARNEY – Two Rivers Public Health updated the weekly risk dial on Thursday, August 26, 2021. The risk dial did increase from the previous week, and is now higher into the orange “elevated” level of risk. Staff will continue to monitor the situation closely and reporting may again increase depending on the level of risk.

As I write this, it’s the last day of August. Where did August go?? Where did summer go??? For a few more weeks, it still is summer and the thermometer confirms the same. Most everyone seems to agree that we’ve had enough of the 100+ or near that days. And on The Hill anyway, without much moisture. The heat and lack of moisture have given the lawn mowers somewhat of a reprieve. Mine still comes out of the shed on a regular basis. The weeds, fox tail and crab grass are still doing quite well.

The Red Willow County GOP hosted State Board of Education candidate Elizabeth Tegtmeier at their monthly meeting on Tuesday, August 24. Tegtmeier shared her background as well as issues in education that need to be addressed.

Head Start, a program of Community Action Partnership of Mid Nebraska (Mid), provides comprehensive services to 20 families in Furnas County. Furnas County Head Start is now taking applications for the 2021-2022 year. The home based model is parent focused and works with the adults in each household to work with their child as the child’s first and primary teacher.
