FIRST DAY, FIRST MEAL - Oxford Elementary School’s 2001 kindergarten students, all 17 of them, line up for their first day’s first lunch served through the school’s cafeteria. 25 Years Ago August 15, 1996 Beaver City Mayor Steve Forbes signed a proclamation on August 8 proclaiming that the city square be renamed «Gazebo Park», coinciding with the completion of a new 26-foot diameter octagonal gazebo in the center of the park. Carl DeVries and Ward Bundy supervised the construction done with volunteer labor.

Thank you for all the brilliant men and women who choose to study medicine and save so many lives. It is unbelievable the new technology they are learning. We cannot thank the doctors and nurses and everyone in the medical field enough. God bless you. Thank you everyone for all the calls and prayers for Kirk Ellis prayers are a powerful medicine.

We had a wonderful group of people this year. There were 43 in attendance. Rob Martin Family had 4. Bruening Family had 2. Walt Martin Family had 27. George Martin Family had 8. Bryan Martin Family had 2. A special thanks to Georgia Martin for the sound system and the childrens program. Thank you to Billy Fandry, Larry Martin, Connie Fandry, and Betty Buttman for the preparation and organization help. Doris Wentling always does a great job in the announcements and speaking part of the event. Next year Deb and I will be passing the baton of leadership to Georgia Martin and Lyle Martin. It has been a privilege to serve and share with the families for several years.

Houser, Schaben and Schroeder complete an Agronomy Operations Internship with Ag Valley Co-op

Edison, Neb., August 3, 2021 – Elwood native Megan Houser and Arapahoe natives Branigan Schaben and Carson Schroeder are three of five Ag Valley Co-op operations interns this summer. Houser is a sophomore at Chadron State College studying Rangeland Management with an Ecology option. Schaben and Schroeder are sophomores at Southeast Community College in Beatrice. Schaben is studying Agronomy and Schroeder is studying Livestock Management.

GOSPER COUNTY SENIOR CENTER

We are open to in-house meals and as long as our Gosper County numbers stay down we can remain open. We are following the guidelines that WCNAAA has suggested for our Center. Masks are optional. We will continue to do Home Deliver meals if you are homebound; Pick-up meals on need base only. Please call and visit with Lana at 785-2500 if you have questions, we will work it out.
