Lebanon News

Memorial Day, 2021, was quite different from Memorial Day, 2020, in the midst of COVID-19. It was a beautiful day and people were happy to be out. The weather managed to curtail a few of the activities. Due to Sunday being a rainy day, the Military Memorial Services at the Lyle Cemetery were cancelled. Monday morning was still pretty drippy so the decision was made to not raise the Avenue of Flags in the Lebanon Cemetery. The services were held as planned in the Tyrone, Hamburg and Lebanon Cemeteries. And, the Lebanon American Legion Auxiliary served lunch to a really nice crowd. People were so happy to have a place to go out for lunch and to see and visit family and friends.
At Memorial Day Services held in Bartley Monday morning, a program was held at Southwest High School’s Auditorium, where George Probasco (pictured below) was the featured speaker. Probasco delivered a message on the importance of remembering our fallen heroes, but also the importance of continuing to serve. Pictured above is a young man at attention while taps was played at the Bartley Cemetery.

American Legion Cookout at Arapahoe park

Body
Several people came out on Memorial Day to enjoy a cookout at the park put on by the Arapahoe American Legion Post 96. They usually hold the cookout downtown at the American Legion Building but due to the Arapahoe Library moving out and into their newly remodeled building, they moved it to the park and it was a beautiful day for a picnic.
