Indianola Council reorganizes, makes appointments

INDIANOLA - The Indianola City Council met Monday to reorganize and make new appointments to the Variance Committe while also discussing a new vendor and peddler permit rodaninace. After approval of the minutes and claims - there was discussion on the cost of telecommunications and the nearly $700 monthly bill - the Council approved the November 2020 Treaurer’s Report and filed it for audit.

COVID-19 Vaccine Information for Southwest Nebraska

Southwest Nebraska Public Health Department (SWNPHD) is working with state public health officials on plans for the recently approved COVID-19 vaccines. These vaccines will provide an important layer of protection against the spread of COVID-19 and will be a valuable tool for the communities in southwest Nebraska.

Each year, the Arapahoe/Holbrook school hosts a Scholastic Book Fair. At the conclusion of the fair, they get to select free books and supplies for their school. Due to COVID this year, the book fair was online. However, they still had lots of fun and will get to add new books to the school. In an effort to promote the fair, Principal Perez, agreed to be duct taped to the wall if they reached their goal of $1000 in sales! Well, they reached their goal! On Friday, December 18th, students in grades K-6 got to duct tape Mr. Perez to the wall! Perez stated “In year’s past, it wouldn’t have taken this much tape.”

Elwood Board thanks Jorges for 16 years of service

ELWOOD - The Elwood Board of Education met Monday to approve some bids on Facilities needs and to approve a negotiated agreement with its teaching staff for the 2021-2022 school year. After negoatiations, the Board approved a $750 raise to its base for teachers contracts, raising the base to $35,800 per year.

Southwest Board approves staff raises

BARTLEY - The Southwest Board of Education met Monday at the High School in Bartley to approve a negotiated contract with teachers for the 2021-2022 school year, to thank a two-term school board member for her service and to hear from a concerned parent on a quarantine of an elementary class.
