The COVID-19 Community Risk Dial for the week of October 5th is orange, meaning residents of southwest Nebraska have a high risk of contracting COVID-19. The risk level was raised due to an increase in community spread across several counties and higher demand on the healthcare system.

25 Years Ago October 12, 1995 Two escapees from the Norton Correctional Facility were captured at an Overton home and are being held in the Dawson County Jail in Lexington. During their escape, they stole a 1978 Ford LTD station wagon parked behind Kelley’s Super Market in Beaver City, but ran out of gas just across the tracks in Arapahoe, where they stole a pickup from a private residence.
