Mary Ann received her primary education and graduated from Orleans High School, with the class of 1959. She pursued higher education from Kearney State College and attained a Bachelor’s Degree in Education.

She was united in marriage to Donald Wolfe and they were blessed with three daughters: Dawn, Adeana, and Melissa. The couple later divorced.

She was then united in marriage to Raymond Lehmer and they welcomed a daughter, Ramona. The couple later divorced. She especially enjoyed teaching children to read and her daughters and many grandchildren have a love for reading.

Mary Ann taught at Red Cloud, Nebraska, Oxford, Nebraska and Long Island, Kansas. She owned and operated, The Place, a bar in Holdrege, and later served as the Orleans City Clerk, for many years.

Mary Ann loved to go antiquing, and always found the perfect pieces to add to her collection!

She loved decorating her 1880’s Victorian home which she owned since 1964. Mary Ann loved her many cats she had over the years, especially Elroy (whom she may have liked more than her children.) Most of all, she cherished the time spent with her daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
