ROGER ZINK
Roger Zink, 83, a lifetime resident of Indianola, Nebraska, passed away on Saturday afternoon, February 26, 2022 at the Christian Homes Care Community in Holdrege, Nebraska. He was born to Aulis Jay and Mildred Faye (Meyers) Zink on January 6, 1939 in McCook, Nebraska. He attended school in Indianola and graduated from Indianola High School with the class of 1957. Roger attended Basic Combat Training shortly after high school and served honorably in the United States Army. Roger furthered his education at the University of Nebraska Lincoln where he graduated in 1961 with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture.
On August 20, 1961, Roger was united in marriage to Nona Jo Jacobitz at the Community Church of Stella in Stella, Nebraska. The couple returned to Red Willow County were they worked the family farm together and raised three daughters, Tyler, Tracy and Nancy. Roger raised corn, soybeans and wheat and served on agriculture related boards in southwest Nebraska. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Indianola. He also served on the Indianola Rural Fire Board and the Republi can Valley School Board. Roger was a member of the McCook Elks Club and enjoyed time spent with good friends and a cold drink.
He was preceded in death by parents and a brother, Wayne Allen Zink.
Survivors include his wife, Nona Zink of Indianola; daughters: Tyler (Darren) Esch of Indianola, Tracy Zink of Indianola and Nancy (Kevin) Bredenkamp of Hastings, Nebraska; grandchildren: Morgan Bredenkamp of Omaha, Nebraska, Colton Bredenkamp of Hastings, Nebraska, Hailey (Ryan) Steider of Geneva, Nebraska, Hannah (Kasey) Taylor of McCook, and Mackenzie (Skyler) Kalinski of McCook; great-grandchildren, Aiden Steider, Jaxx Kalinski and Gracelynn Kalinski; sister, Joyce (Walt) Jones of Des Moines, Iowa; as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation was held on Thursday afternoon, March 3, 2022 from 3 – 7 PM at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel of McCook. The family attending from 5 – 7 PM.
Funeral services were held at 2 PM on Friday afternoon, March 4, 2022 at Memorial United Methodist Church of McCook with Pastor Jeff Kelley officiating. Interment followed services in Cedar Grove Cemetery in Indianola.
