Ramona Mae Fuller was born on her grandparents Ritz farm northeast of Wilsonville, NE on April 8, 1938, the oldest of 6 children born to Kenneth and Myrtle (Ritz) Fuller. She passed away peacefully at the Elwood Care Center, April 10, 2022 with family at her side. She had celebrated her 84th birthday and it was an excellent day for her.

Frances Ellen (Colton) Miller, 106 years old, departed this earthly life, on March 29, 2022. She was born March 25, 1916, to Ernest and Faith (Tibbetts) Colton on her family farm, 17 miles north of Cambridge, at Orafino, Frontier County, NE. Frances grew up with her two older sisters, Myrtle, and Muriel. She attended a Frontier County Rural School through the 8th grade and attended Cambridge High School, graduating in 1934. She went on to receive her teaching certificate and taught for a few years in a rural school. She loved the children, participating in activities with them, even playing baseball in her dress and heels. She also attended Beauty School and owned her own hair salon.

Funeral Services for Ara Jane Dunlap, age 97, of Norfolk, were held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 26, 2022 at the Home for Funerals Chapel, 708 Georgia Avenue in Norfolk. Reverend Brian Johnson officiated. Burial was in Best Cemetery. Visitation was one hour prior to service at the chapel. Home for Funerals is in charge of arrangements.

Judith Roberta Bethel passed from this life to her eternal rest on March 27, 2022. She and her twin brother, Jack, were born in Worland, Wyoming on December 16, 1941 to Josephine and James Brown.

Donald Dean Karash, age 89, formerly of Arapahoe, Nebraska passed away on Saturday, April 2, 2022 at the Brookstone Gardens Nursing Home in Kearney, Nebraska. Don “Sonny” was born on November 25 , 1932 to Ted and Virgie (Brooks) Karash near Arapahoe, Nebraska. Don grew up in the Arapahoe area and graduated from Arapahoe High School in 1950. He joined the Army in 1953 and served until 1955, then entering the Army Reserves from 1955 to 1961. He was employed by the Bureau of Proclamation from 1956 to 1961, then he went into farming until his retirement in 2003.

Gerald Eugene “Jug” Hilton, 90, of Cambridge, Nebraska, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on March 25, 2022. Gerald was born in Cambridge, NE to Harold W. and Lucile C. (Johnson) Hilton on December 20, 1931, at the Republican Valley Hospital. During his Depression-Dust Bowl era childhood, he recalled his family living in nine different farming locations. He attended rural schools and Cambridge Public School. Gerald experienced both of Cambridge’s floods, viewing the 1935 rising floodwaters from a bluff south of Holbrook and rescuing people in the 1947 flood with a small boat. He proudly wore the orange and black of Cambridge High School, graduating with the class of 1949. During high school, he excelled in academics, sports, and attended the first Cornhusker Boy’s State. He played summer baseball on coach Stu Minnick’s first team.

Sharon Kathleen Hyke, age 64, of Wilsonville, Nebraska passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2022. She was born August 9, 1957 to Merle and Bonnie (Winter) Hunt in McCook, Nebraska.

A Memorial Service for Paula Joan Roehrkasse Knepper will be held on Monday, April 4, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Holdrege, Nebraska with Rev. Kenton Birtell officiating. Family members will greet friends and relatives for an hour before and after the service. A visitation will be held Sunday, April 3, 2022 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege. Family members will be there from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. A family inurnment will be held later that week at Westlawn Cemetery in Grand Island, Nebraska.

A Funeral Service for Ethel (Breitling Baumbach) Ball will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Bertrand, Nebraska, with Pastor Kenton Birtell officiating. Interment will follow at the Highland Cemetery at Bertrand.

Judith A Magnus, age 81, of Valentine, Nebraska, formerly of Arapahoe, Nebraska died on Thursday, March 17, 2022, at Great Plains Health Center in North Platte, Nebraska. She was born February 17, 1941 in Adams County Nebraska. She was adopted in July of 1941 by Walter and Mildred (Maple) Schroeder.
