Sandwiched around losses to Amherst and Hershey, the Southern Valley volleyball team took down Wood River in three sets at the Elm Creek Tournament Saturday. The Eagles took down Wood River with wins in the second and third sets, 25-20, 25-19 after dropping a 25-21 decision in the first.

BRADY - With a balanced attack, the Arapahoe volleyball team swept Brady 26-24, 2516, 25-12 for its fourth win of the season Thursday. Emerson Swanson slammed seven kills, Sabrina Jacobsen had six and Hilary Downey and Addie Jeffcoat each had five in the victory.

Rundown MAXWELL - Southern Valley took the drive to Maxwell on Friday evening for a battle with the Wildcats in what was a back and forth affair at Brittenham Field on Homecoming night. Ultimately, it was the Wildcats who came away with the win, 36-30. On the opening drive, Maxwell received the ball and made the most of the possession as they scored on a 58-yard run on the first play of the game by Easton Messersmith. Maxwell converted the two-point conversion and led 8-0. The teams traded empty possessions, but at the 6:31 mark in the first quarter, Southern Valley was able to score on a 75-yard touchdown pass from Kamden Bose to Mitchel Wilson to tie things up. The Wildcats though, came back right down the field and with 1:49 remaining in the first quarter, as Messersmith ran in from 14 yards out to make it 16-8. The Eagles came right back though and tied it up just before the end of the quarter at 16-16. In the second quarter, it wasn't until about halfway through the quarter when Maxwell scored on a 13-yard touchdown run by Levi Huffman to reclaim the lead at 24-16. Just before the half, the Wildcats scored again, this time on a 17-yard touchdown pass from Messersmith to Tyler Cheek to push that lead to 30-16, and that's what it read at halftime. In the third quarter, the teams traded possessions with no scoring to get things started but, Maxwell looked as if they were going to distance

GOTHENBURG - The Cambridge and Southwest girls golf teams took to the Wildhorse Golf Club for the Gothenburg Invite Tuesday. Southwest finished 10th as a team and the Trojans produced a medalist at the meet.

CAMBRIDGE - Playing the first home game of the season, the Cambridge football team wanted to make sure the scoreboard was functioning properly. So they gave it and the operator a workout.

BARTLEY - The Southwest volleyball team swept past Rawlins County and battled another one of the top teams from the region to the end before falling at a home triangular last Thursday. Against top-rated Maywood- Hayes Center, Southwest made hard charges in the back end of each of the three sets, but the Wolves held on in the first and third to take a 25-23, 16-25, 27-25 victory to improve to 4-0 this season.

CAMBRIDGE - The Cambridge girls cross country team finished first and Hi-Line was runner-up at the Cambridge Cross Country Invite Friday. the Trojans finished with a perfect team score by taking the top three spots individually. Hi-Line had a firm hold on second with 17 points and Southern Valley finished sixth with 62 points while Arapahoe was seventh with 71.

LOOMIS - The Arapahoe volleyball team took victories in both ends of a Thursday triangular before seeing their unbeaten season end with a pair of losses to top local teams in another triangular Tuesday. Arapahoe fought back from a set down to defeat Hitchcock County 21-25, 2512, 26-24 on Thursday before sweeping Dundy County-Stratton 25-13, 25-20 to improve to 3-0. Tuesday, the Warriors fell in straight sets to top-ranked Maywood-Hayes Center 2510, 25-15, then fought hard but fell to triangular host Loomis 25-22, 25-18, falling to 3-2.

EUSTIS - In likely the toughest challenge of the season for the Hi-Line football team, the Bulls fought to a scoreless tie for the game’s first quarter and much of the second. Then top-ranked North Platte St. Pat’s took advantage of some positive field position and the ball started rolling downhill against the Bulls.
