Southwest Nebraska Public Health Department’s (SWNPHD) annual Walk to Health Team Challenge 2022 was recently completed. The program lasted for 12 weeks and included 263 residents of all ages. “The goal of the Walk to Health program is to get people to increase their activity level,” states Myra Stoney, Health Director of SWNPHD. “The results of the challenge were amazing, with 170,413,883 total steps taken by participants of the Walk to Health Team Challenge 2022.” Over 90% reported an increase in their activity level.

Former Trojan to be inducted into University of Nebraska Athletics Hall of Fame

On September 30th, Cambridge alumni and University of Nebraska-Lincoln graduate Christina Houghtelling Hudson will be inducted into the University of Nebraska Athletic Hall of Fame. Known for being an All-American and National Player of the Year for the Huskers’ Volleyball team, Hudson didn’t have dreams of volleyball greatness as a standout athlete at Cambridge.

Local softball teams excel at league tournament

The Oxford 10U softball team finished league champion Sunday afternoon, defeating Axtell in the finals. The Arapahoe 14U softball team finished runner-up at the league tournament, falling 2-1 to Axtell in the championship.

Esprit de Corps concert scheduled Tuesday for Cambridge

Esprit de Corps is a performing arts group based out of Lincoln Berean Church. The name means a common spirit of enthusiasm and devotion among members of a group. This group is devoted to the gospel of Jesus. Esprit is made up of around 75 high school students from over 25 different churches, representing many different denominations and several southeast Nebraska high schools.

The 37th Annual Holbrook Carp shoot was held on June 12th with 11 teams competing and 8 Kids also participating. In First Place was Don Loy and Cliff Jorgensen with 470.5 lbs.

Village of Bartley Joins nebraska League of municipalities Health insurance Group

BARTLEY – During the meeting on Monday, June 13, the village council took action to join the Nebraska League of Municipalities health insurance group for village employees. Under the new arrangement, the Village of Bartley will save $5,000 annually and provide the same Blue Cross/Blue Shield coverage for their two employees that they currently have.
SCOTTSBLUFF - Cooper Ray led the East team with a pair of touchdowns of the night for the team at the West Nebraska All-Star Football Game in Scottsbluff this weekend.

East Players Put Up Heavy Resistance in 2022 CSO Allstar Games

The West Girls and Boys took both of the 2022 CSO Allstar Game wins Friday night, but the East put up a good fight. The East Girls scored 36 while the West Girls scored 47. For the most part the East girls kept the deficit in the single digits, but they couldn’t pull ahead. Schyler Hoberty of Cambridge and Krista Best of Southern Valley scored 6 points apiece. Autumn Deterding of Cambridge scored 4 points and her teammate Paige Klumpe had several blocks. Arapahoe’s Hope Koller fired off 6 points- all in the second quarter- and was named the East Girl’s MVP.
