Warriors take fifth at State Duals

District Wrestling Meets to be held this weekend

Boys District Wrestling Meets take place this weekend with four of area teams assigned to the District D1 Meet in Maxwell, while Southwest was assigned to the District D3 Meet in Burwell. Wrestling begins Fridat afternoon and wraps up with the bulk of the meets on Saturday.

Girls Subdistrict hoops begins next week

Though official pairings were not set to be released until Thursday, area teams will compete in Girls Subdistrict Basketball Tournaments beginning on Tuesday. At the C2-10 Subdistrict, Amherst should be the top seed and host and will open against fourth-seeded Hi-Line while Southern Valley will battle South Loup in the other semifinal.

Area teams compete at Southwest Invite

BARTLEY - Southern Valley finished fifth, Cambridge took sixth and Southwest was eighth at the 16-team Southwest Invite Saturday. The Eagles scored 100.5 points and edged Cambridge by a half-point for fifth while Southwest scored 65 points at the tournament.

Hi-Line medals two at FKC/ TVC Tournament

AMHERST - The Hi-Line wrestling team medaled two of its four competitiors and finished 11th out of 16 teams at the Fort Kearny Conference and Twin Valley Conference Tournament in Amherst last week. The Bulls’ Syrus Snow led the team with a second-place finish at 285 pounds, going 2-1 on the day.

Eagles split with Alma, South Loup

The Southern Valley boys basketball team split a pair of games over the weekend, takig down Alma on the road before falling at South Loup. At Alma, Southern Valley took a 44-36 victory behind 22 points from Matt Henderson and 12 more from Kamden Bose as the Eagles made that offense stand up by holding the Cardinals to 36 points in the contest.

Cambridge grinds way to victory at Arapahoe

ARAPAHOE - With a workmanlike effort, the Cambridge boys basketball team was able to grind its way to a 62-40 victory at Arapahoe Tuesday. The Trojans used 10-0 run that crossed over the first and second quarters to gain some separation from the Warriors and took a 28-15 lead at the half.

The Arapahoe boys basketball team picked up its sixth win of the season with a 63-47 victory over Brady Friday. The Warriors set the tone early and built a 29-20 lead at the half before blowing the game open in the third quarter.

ARAPAHOE - With huge scoring outputs in the second and third quarters and stingy defense, the Cambridge girls basketball team rolled its way to victory at Arapahoe Tuesday night, 59-32. The trojans put up 20 points in the second to build a 29-13 lead at the half, then blew the game wide open with 21 more points in the third, taking a 50-23 lead to the fourth.

Southern Valley drops pair of tough battles

ARNOLD - The Southern Valley girls basketball team dropped a pair of hard-fought contests over the weekend to two of the best teams in the region. Friday, the Eagles led much of the game before Alma surged in front in the fourth quarter and took a 42-38 victory.
