Southwest girls take victory over Bertrand

BARTLEY- Friday evening the Southwest girls basketball team battled against the Bertrand Vikings and came away with a big win, 44-26. The Roughriders raced out to a big lead, 15-4 including Bailey Truksa's two three-pointers to get them rolling. In the second quarter, it was much of the same as they scored 14 points to the Vikings one and they led 29-5 at the intermission.

ARAPAHOE - With a dominant secondhalf, the Arapahoe girls basketball team rolled away from visiting Hi-Line Friday night for a 61-33 victory. The victory pushed the Warriors to 8-5 this season while the Bulls fell to 2-9.

DUNNING - The Cambridge and Southwest wrestling teams competed at the Sandhills/Thedford Invite Saturday. The Roughriders finished fourth at the meet as six wrestler medaled, led by Carter Van Pelt, who remained unbeaten on the season and took first at 126 pounds.

SHELTON - The Arapahoe rwestling team took six medals and finished third at the Shelton Invite Saturday. Both Tristian White (152) and Levi Kerner (285) captured individual titles at the meet as the Warriors scored 135 points and were nine back of Conestoga for runner-up.

GIBBON - The Southern Valley and Hi-Line wrestling teams continued their seasons Saturday at the Gibbon Bill Foster Invite. The Eagles medaled four wrestlers and finished sixth at the 12-team invite while Hi- Line, with just two wrestlers competing, medaled one and finished 11th.

Cambridge girls turn back Southwest

BARTLEY - The Cambridge girls basketball team jumped on hosting Southwest early and kept the pressure on throughout, building a lead as big as 20 before coasting to the finish of a 47-33 victory. Cambridge knocked down six threes and was disruptive on the defensive end, producing 17 steals as Southwest tied its season-low for scoring.
Cambridge’s Jalen Kent finished with nine steals against Southwest Friday.

‘Riders, Bulls and Trojans compete at Amherst

AMHERST - The Cambridge, Hi-Line and Southwest wrestling teams competed at the Amherst Invite Saturday, earning 13 medals collectively at one of the toughest meets on the schedule. Southwest finished fourth with 95 points, edging Cambridge, which finished fifth.

The Southern Valley girl's basketball team had a pair of games last week and came away with two wins over Franklin and Bertrand. Last Tuesday they took on the Flyers of Franklin and won 48-33.

Third-quarter surge leads Arapahoe past Med Valley

ARAPAHOE - Offense came and went for both teams Friday night as the Medicine Valley girls basketball team visited Arapahoe. But for a five-minute stretch in the third quarter, the Warriors caught fire on a 14-0 run that blew open an otherwise tight game throughout.
