Hi-Line boys, Cambridge girls finish third at Hi-Line Invite

ELWOOD - The Hi-Line boys and the Cambridge girls each took third place to lead local teams at the Hi-Line Invite Thursday. For the Bulls, their 400 relay team of Justin Ervin, Brody Diefenbaugh, Cooper Knackstedt and Kane Cochrane ran a 44.93 to take first place.
Cambridge’s Lydia McGowen, pictured alongside Arapahoe’s Grace Andrews, nearly broke the school record in winning the 1,600 run at Hi-Line Thursday. She then shattered the record Tuesday at the DCS Invite with a time of 5:24

Trojans take title at Bulls Invite

JOHNSON LAKE - Led by the individual champion, the Cambridge boys golf team medaled three and captured their first team title at an invite in at least four years Tuesday at the Hi-Line Invite at Johnson Lake.
BENKELMAN - While resetting his own school record, Southwest’s Houston Billeter carded a 73 at the Dundy County Stratton Invite Tuesday and led the Roughriders to a fourthplace finish at the Invite. Billeter finished third individually. Brett Blume also medaled, taking 14th with an 85. Dylan Cornwell carded an 89, Jaxton Payton shot a 98 and Alex Lashley finished with a 117.

For girls results, in the 100-meter dash, Bristol Kubert of Hi-Line placed 4th with a time of 13.81, and Cali Santifer of Southern Valley placed 6th with a time of 13.99. In the 200-meter dash, Kubert of Hi-Line placed 3rd with a personal best time of 28.22.

Area teams tee off at Cambridge Invite

CAMBRIDGE - Area golf teams hit Cross Creek Golf Links for their first invite of the season last Wednesday, battling a cold start and breezy conditions to post a number of solid scores. Cambridge led area teams with a fifth place finish and a score of 368 while Southwest tied fo seventh with a 391.

SOUTHERN VALLEY Despite cool and breezy conditions, area athletes excelled at the Southern Valley Track & Field Invite Friday at Southern Valley. Southern Valley captured the team title in the girls competition, scoring 104 points to beat out Alma, which finished second with 100.
