The Hi-Line boys basketball team saw a fourth quarter lead melt away to hot-shooting South Loup Friday in a 63-54 defeat. The Bulls had built a 4237 lead through three quarters, but the Bobcats dropped 26 points in the final eight minutes to rally for the victory.

As the postseason quickly approaches, the Medicine Valley boys basketball team ran its record to 13-8 with a Friday matchup with Dundy County Stratton the only game remaining on its regular season schedule.
Hosting one of the league’s top teams, the Southern Valley boys basketball team dropped its contest with Dundy County Stratton, 76-48, Friday night. The Tigers built a 20-6 lead after a quarter and their offense never slowed down. Isaac Hamilton scored 23 to lead Southern Valley and Hunter Lans and Jacob Rice each scored eight for the Eagles.

Seven qualify for Girls State Wrestling

Seven girls wrestlers from Southwest and Southern Valley/ Arapahoe clinched berths at the Class B State Tournament at district tournaments last week. A strong second season for the Southern Valley/Arapahoe girls wrestling co-op continued last weekend when SVA finished fifth and qualified four for State at the District B-1 Tournament in Plainview.

LINCOLN - Arapahoe’s Lauren Moore, a two-time State medalist, came up just short of a medal Monday at the Class B Girls State Bowling Tournament. Moore rolled a four-game total of 660, which finished tenth overall.

Postseason enters full swing next week

Area girls basketball teams will play their regular season finales this weekend, then enter postseason play Monday and Tuesday. Though subdistrict brackets were not released as of press time, the postseason outlook for hosts and assignments had taken shape Tuesday.

Boys wrestling districts set for this weekend

BARTLEY - Area boys wrestlers begin postseason Friday at the District D-3 and District D-4 tournaments at Elm Creek and Southwest. Southern Valley will compete at District D-2 in Elm Creek while the remainder of area teams - Arapahoe, Cambridge, Hi-Line, Medicine Valley and Southwest - will compete at the District D-4 Tournament hosted by the Roughriders in Bartley.
Arapahoe’s Reece Morse captured his first victory at the Southwest Invite Friday.
