OMAHA - Overton the course of five days split between two separate tournaments, local wrestlers excelled at the State Wrestling Championships in Omaha. At the Class B Girls Tournament Tuesday and Wednesday, all seven qualifiers won at least a match and three medaled, led by a State Championship from Southwest’s Madelyn Tryon at 235.

CAMBRIDGE - A familiar foe that stressed the Cambridge volleyball team in November will return to confront the Trojans’ basketball team in Friday’s district championship game. Cambridge earned the number five seed for Friday’s Class D2 district final against 12th-seeded Sumner-Eddyville- Miller.

Boys hoops teams head to subdistricts next week

Area boys basketball teams are the final entrants into postseason play, which begins Monday at subdistricts. Arapahoe, Cambridge, Southern Valley and Southwest will contend at the Subdistrict D1-11 Tournament, hosted by Bertrand beginning Monday with the Warriors and Eagles squaring off.
