Over the weekend some of the junior legion teams were in action with their area tournaments. In Cambridge/ Arapahoe Post 199 first game versus Loomis they lost 16-1.
Teens for Christ Connection (TFC), based in Phillipsburg, Kansas, took 2 Mission trips this summer. One team went to Tulsa, Oklahoma and the other went to Cary, Mississippi. TFC is an interdenominational youth ministry that serves rural areas of Kansas and Nebraska, offering weekly meetings during the school year, mission trips and camp in the summer for junior high and high school, and year-long or summer internships for college students.
Indianola 10U sofball team finished in 3rd place Congratulations to the Indianola girls 10 U softball team for finishing in 3rd Place in the League Tournament over the weekend.
Cory Holl, a 1988 graduate from Elwood, has been selected as one of the 19 players and coaches to be inducted into the class of 2025 Nebraska 8-Man Football Hall of Fame. Peaking in size at around 5’10” and 170 pounds, Holl was a dynamic 3-time 1,000-yard rusher.
COLUMBUS - With just a few holes left in Thursday’s second round of the NSAA Class D State Golf Tournament, Cambridge’s Micah Gerlach had a discussion with his coach, Lyle Calvert, about their strategy for the remaining holes after he’d put his tee shot in a pond off the left of the 15th fairway. Gerlach trailed the leader, Creighton’s Calvin Wilmes, by six strokes and his lead over third place had shrunk from five strokes to two.
CAMBRIDGE - Recxent grads put their basketball skills on exhibition again Friday as Cambridge hosted the CSO All Star Basketball games. In the girls’ contest, Southwest’s Anastasia Gallegos scored 14 points to help the Team Lanham team to a 62-59 victory over Team Lauhead.
KEARNEY - Both the Hi-Line and Southern Valley track and field teams qualified four individuals for the Class C State Meet at the District C Meet at Kearney Catholic last Thursday. Southern Valley’s Adi Hunt finished second in both the 100 and 200 while rolling to first in the 400.
