ARNOLD - The Hi-Line volleyball team capped a busy end of the week with a victory at South Loup Friday, a night after dropping both ends of a triangular at SEM. The Bulls were swept by the Mustangs Thursday and fell in three to Wilcox-Hildreth to fall to 1-4 on the season.

The Maywood/Hayes Center football team fell to 0-2 on the season with a 16-35 loss at home to Mullen Thursday. Mullen struck first, capping a 12-play drive to start the game with a third-and-goal touchdown.

FRANKLIN - For a second-straight week, the Cambridge football team hit the road and ambushed its opponent at the start, scoring 32 first-quarter points en route to a 68-32 blowout victory. The Trojans scored on their first four possessions and forced turnovers from Franklin on its first two times with the ball to build a 32-6 lead after a quarter.

ARCADIA - A furious second-half rally came up short for Southern Valley Friday night as the Arcadia-Loup City Rebels held off the Eagles, 48-38. After falling into a 34-8 hole in the third quarter, Southern Valley scored on its final four possessions to close the gap to 10 on two occasions.

CURTIS - On a beautiful morning for a run, area athletes got off to a strong start to their cross country season as an individual and team champion emerged from the Medicine Valley Invite Thursday. The Raiders’ Kael Garrett blew away the boys field, running a 17:31 to win the race by over a minute.

CAMBRIDGE - While smaller in numbers this season, the Cambridge Volleyball Invite has annually provided an early measuring-stick for teams to see where they're at, particularly for Cambridge and Southwest, who had met each other for the championship the past four seasons.

ARAPAHOE - The scoreboard did a great deal of heavy-lifting, particularly in the first quarter of Friday night’s season opener between Arapahoe and Cambridge.
