Through a number of body blows, Arapahoe played from in front, then dealt the knockout blow in the fourth quarter of a 50-26 victory over their county rival.

SOUTHERN VALLEY Arapahoe swept both ends of a triangular at Southern Valley Thursday while the Eagles earned a split of the evening with a three-set victory over Bertrand. The Warriors took down the Vikings 25-13, 25-13 and downed the Eagles, 25-21, 25-16 to improve to 8-6 on the season.

CENTRAL CITY - The Southern Valley/Alma softball team grabbed a home victory Thursday over Hershey, 7-2, before splitting a triangular at Central City on Monday to move to 8-10 on the season. The Saints downed Ord Monday, 6-2, before falling to one of the tops teams in the State in Class C, Central City, by a score of 13-1.

Trojans move to 3-0 as district play arrives

CAMBRIDGE - The Cambridge football finally popped the top on its home schedule Friday night, welcoming a young Axtell team short on depth and experience. From the outset, the Trojans’ size overwhelmed the Wildcats as Cambridge rushed their way to 506 yards and a 60-0 lead at the half before taking a 68-0 victory.
Cambridge’s Devan Rodriguez led the Trojans with 14 carries Friday night against Axtell. The out-of-district portion of the schedule is now complete and Cambridge overwhelmed those opponents, scoring 68 points in each of the three games. District competition begins Thursday at home with 3-0 Bertrand coming to town. The Vikings scored 78 points in a home victory over Brady last week.

BARTLEY - The Southwest volleyball team is starting to have that look again. The Roughriders, who went undefeated through last year’s regular season, steamrolled four opponents over the past week to improve to 10-0 on the season entering Saturday’s trip to the McCook Invite.
