CAMBRIDGE - In an important district showdown, the Cambridge football team came up a bit short Friday night, falling to visiting Overton 33-24. The Trojans fell in a 14-0 hole, but rallied for consecutive scores in the second quarter to take a 16-14 lead as Micah Gerlach blasted through the defense on a 47-yard scoring run, then connected with Brady Ahlemeyer on a 38-yard touchdown pass.

Maywood/Hayes Center’s football team continues to trudge its way through the D2-8 district. The Wolves fell victim to Class D2 No.

CURTIS - The Southwest football team used big plays on offense and defense to strike early and often in Friday's 61-14 win at Medicine Valley, improving to 5-0 on the season while dropping the Raiders to 1-4.

OGALLALA - Southwest’s Maddy Tryon fired a round of 103 to take ninth place at districts Monday and clinch a berth at next week’s Class C State Tournament. Cambridge’s Hailey Evans missed qualifying by two strokes with a 107 and Southwest’s Abby Sedlacek was three strokes out of qualifying with a 108.

AUBURN - After the tournament was delayed a day by rain, the Southern Valley/ Alma softall team hit the road for Auburn for a subdistrict tournament and matchup with the top seed Auburn. With single runs in the second and third, the Saints tied Bulldogs at two.

SOUTHERN VALLEY With a healthy dose of Chase Baitler running the football, the Hi-Line football team picked up its second win of the season with a 42-6 triumph at Southern Valley Friday. The Bulls enjoyed a 16-0 lead at the break, but blew the game open with 20 third-quarter points as Beitler rushed for 202 yards and four touchdowns.

CURTIS - The Arapahoe volleyball team picked up a pair of wins at the Medicine Valley triangular Thursday while the host Raiders forced their matchup with Paxton to three sets, but dropped both matches.

Maywood/Hayes Center’s volleyball team celebrated homecoming Friday night with a 25-15, 25-19, 25-18 sweep of Cambridge. MHC wasted no time jumping out to a ten-point lead in the first set.

ARAPAHOE - A wild fourth quarter led to heartbreak for the Arapahoe football team as the visiting Alma Cardinals snatched a victory with a pair of touchdowns in the final minutes. Alma scored twice in the final 3:30, finishing a pair of drives sandwiched around a successful onside kick to erase a late 12-point deficit and take a 36-34 lead with about a minute left.

ALMA - The Southwest volleyball team split a triangular at Alma last Thursday, sweeping past the host Cardinals before dropping their second match to Overton in six days. The Roughriders rolled past Alma 25-19, 25-11 as they hit .284 in the match.
