The Lady Eagles basketball team started their 20232024 season with three big wins. Last Thursday, November 30th, the Southern Valley girls took on the Minden Whippets and won 33-26.
The Hi-Line girls basketball team dropped the first two games of its season, falling to Wilcox-Hildreth on Thursday before dropping a home contest with Ansley/Litchfield on Friday. The Falcons flew out to a 32-4 lead at the half Thursday and rolled to a 61-10 victory.
The Hi-Line boys basketball team opened its season with a victory over Wilcox-Hildreth on Thursday, 45-33, before falling to Ansley-Litchfield at home on Friday, 49-37. The Bulls built a first-half lead at the Falcons Thursday as they held the hosts to 11 points in the first half and led 18-11 at the break.
The Southern Valley boys basketball team start their season 0-3 after tough battles last week. The Eagles played Minden last Thursday and lost 40-61. Isaac Hamilton and Kamden Bose led in baskets, with Hamilton scoring nine points and Bose scoring eight.
Cambridge Boys - The Cambridge Trojans boys basketball team is 3-0 after starting their season off strong. Last Thursday the Trojans played Hitchcock County and won 62-57.
The Southern Valley boys wrestling team finished 12th out of 21 teams at Ravenna’s Dom Reicks Invite Friday, then finished eighth at Broken Bow on Saturday to open the season last weekend. Braxton Hammond led three medalists for the Eagles at Ravenna, earning the individual title at 120 pounds while picking up a pair of rated wins in the semifnals and finals.
The Southwest boys wrestling tem traveled to Mullen for the Bronco Invite and brought home a pair of medals for their efforts. Gage Gammond went 3-1 at 120 pounds and finished first via tiebreakers.
ELWOOD - With 20 local medalists, including five individual champions, the Arapahoe, Cambridge and Hi-Line wrestling teams finished second, third and fourth while Medicine Valley was 14th at the Hi-Line Invite in Elwood.
