Carolyn Ann (Michals) O’Brien passed away on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at the Beaver City Manor with her daughters by her side. Carolyn was born on March 24, 1939 to Henry E. and Grace (Gilpin) Michals on a farm outside Wilsonville, Nebraska. She graduated from Wilsonville High School in May, 1956 and married Leon O’Brien on July 26, 1956 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Cambridge. To this union four daughters were born.

Susan (Sue) Elizabeth Sharp of Rancho Viejo, Texas passed away at her home on Thursday, April 22, 2021 at the age of 79. She was born on November 21, 1941 to Francis Hill Smith and Laura Louella (Frasier) Smith in Washington DC. Sue grew up in Beaver City, Nebraska, where she attended elementary school and some high school. She received her GED from Colby Community College, Colby, Kansas, and then received her Licensed Practical Nurses license (LPN) from Colby Community College. She married Lyle E. Hutchens of Hendley, Nebraska on July 25, 1959 and to that union had two children, Mark Derren and Dana Marie. She later divorced and then married William (Bill) T. Sharp of Norton, Kansas. on August 17, 1985. After Bill’s death she then married John Dunkle of Rancho Viejo, on August 1, 2009. She loved woodworking, collecting and refinishing antiques, guns and shooting, costume making for the Camille Playhouse, and traveling the world. She was a mother, wife, nurse, pilot, scuba diver, daredevil, musician, poet, seamstress, and craft maker. Sue was preceded in death by her biological father Francis, her mother Laura, and step-father Clifford Clements; her step sister, Deanna and half sister, Ruth Marie; husbands, Bill Sharp and John Dunkle. She is survived by her two children, Mark Hutchens of Beaver City, Nebr.; Dana (Hutchens) Paxton of Norton, Kan.; her first husband, Lyle Hutchens of Hendley, Nebr.; her three sisters, Carol Ann Sweeney of Denver, Colo.; Jo Webb of Beaver City, Nebr.; and Mary Margaret Rozanski of Silver Spring, Md.; and brother, Wayne Frazier Clements of Highlands Ranch, Colo.; two stepsons, Jim (Lida) Sharp of Norton, Kan.; and Tom (Maya) Sharp of Houston, Texas; three step-daughters, Colette (Mick) Miller of Norton, Kan.; Jane Warren; and Evelyn (Rick) Heilbrunn; six grandchildren; Carah Lozo, Jade and Dine Hutchens, Wiyanna Burge, Shylo Jones (Treyton) and Althea (Tia) Paxton. Nine great grandchildren; MeLeah and Addison Lozo, Marley and Idris Hutchens, Aariah Kersch, Kinsley Burge, Gauge Paxton, and Rowan and Quincy Jones, with one more on the way. Many stepgrandchildren and step great-grandchildren. A memorial service will take place on Sunday, May 30 at the Bullseye Event Center in downtown Norton, Kan. starting at 2 p.m. A family burial of her ashes will take place following the service at the Norton Cemetery. Following the burial, everyone wanting to come share stories about Sue’s life is invited to a meal at the Event Center around 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers it is asked that donations be made payable to The Norton County Hospital at 102 E. On October 21, 2020 the Sughroue family lost a loving father, husband, uncle, cousin, and friend following a hospital stay at Tri Valley Health System in Cambridge as a result of Covid-19. Thomas Daniel Sughroue, 82, the youngest child of Frank and Johanna (Schutte) Sughroue came into the world on April 30, 1938 in their home near Indianola, Nebraska.
