Duane John Helms (Born Dwaine John Holst) passed away on Sunday, March 21, 2021 at Crossroads Senior Living at the age of 92. Duane was born August 13, 1928 in Elwood, Nebraska. He graduated from Arapahoe High School in 1946 and continued to work on the family farm until he was inducted into the U. S. Army on September 10, 1951. Duane served in the Korean War and was released from active military service on June 19, 1953 and was transferred to ERC for an additional 8 years. He is the recipient of the Korean Service Medal, Bronze Service Star, Combat Infantry Badge, United States Service Medal and Overseas Bar. Duane moved to Denver with his family and took a job with Public Service and later retired from Fort St. Vrain Nuclear Plant as a Nuclear Plant Operator. He opened Jolly Jack’s Liquors and sold the business in 1985.

A Memorial Service for Sandra J. Dawson will be held on Saturday, August 7, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Oxford, Nebraska with Pastor Brian Jenkins officiating. An inurnment will follow at the Oxford Cemetery.

Kenneth LeRoy Stewart passed away Thursday July 22nd, 2021 at Fallbrook Assisted Living in Lincoln, NE. Kenny was 97 ½ years young.

Elaine Kay Kapustka, aged 75, passed away on July 1, 2021 at the Josie Harper Hospice House in Omaha, NE. Her children were with her at the time of her death.

Luella Dora Ruff, age 95, of Gothenburg, Nebraska passed away on Sunday, July 6, 2021 at Hilltop Estates, Gothenburg, Nebraska. She was born on February 27, 1926 on a farm northwest of Norton, Kansas to John and Clara (Werner) Mussman.

Jon N. Glanzer, age 83, of Holbrook, Nebraska passed away surrounded by family on Wednesday, July 7, 2021, at the C.A. Mues Good Samaritan Center, Arapahoe, Nebraska. He was born on February 12, 1938, at his grandparent’s family farm south of Arapahoe, Nebraska to Walter and Edna (Riepe) Glanzer. He attended school in Holbrook, Nebraska and graduated from Holbrook High School with the class of 1955. He enlisted in the Army and was stationed in Germany in 1956. He married Dolores Remington on September 21, 1957, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Arapahoe, Nebraska and they have been married for 63 years.
