A Nebraska Father’s Day Tribute

Body
As we approach Father’s Day, I’ve been reflecting on how my dad’s desire to serve Nebraskans shaped my own path in public service. Since childhood, I’ve seen up close the importance of sound, locally focused public policy.

Pain Science: Rethinking How We Experience pain

Body
Pain is a universal human experience, yet it remains one of the most misunderstood aspects of health. Traditional views often equate pain directly with physical injury, but modern pain science challenges this simplistic understanding.

Combatting Antisemitism: Confronting Evil with Conscience and Courage

Body
This past week’s terror attack in Boulder, Colorado, was a shocking and heartbreaking act of hatred. It demands not only our condemnation, but our collective moral clarity. Antisemitism — in any form, anywhere — is a poison that threatens the very values on which this country was founded. We must name it, reject it, and work together to root it out.

Letter to the Editor

Body
Remembering the start of the Korean War’s 75th Anniversary Dear Editor, I, Charles Garrod, a 91-year-old Korean War Veteran, would like to remind you and your readers that this coming June 25th is the 75th anniversary of the start to the Korean War, also known to Koreans as the “6/25 War”. North Korea invaded South Korea with the intention of creating one united country under communist rule on the Korean peninsula.

Teen Mental Health

Body
The start of summer brings a sense of excitement for many teens. Take a moment to reflect back to your teen years. As we reminisce, we can likely all say that our adolescent years were a unique and informative time of our life. Mental wellbeing habits are often formed during this time as teens strengthen their social and emotional skills, laying a foundation of habits for the rest of their life. Consider what habits you perhaps formed during this time and what supports you had or needed when you were a teen.

Celebrate Nebraska Wildflower Week: Nature’s Colorful Gift to the Landscape

Body
A week devoted to wildflowers is just about as meaningful as a holiday devoted to trees. While Arbor Day is widely recognized and celebrated across Nebraska, Nebraska Wildflower Week deserves just as much attention. Held June 1–8, 2025, Nebraska Wildflower Week is coordinated by the Nebraska Statewide Arboretum (NSA) and brings together organizations and individuals who understand the true value of wildflowers and native plants. Events will take place throughout the state, inviting Nebraskans to appreciate the natural beauty that surrounds them. A full list of statewide events and educational resources is available at: https://plantnebraska.org/resources- events/events/wildflowers.html Wildflowers and native plants can be stunning, resilient additions to any landscape. But what’s the difference between the two? While the terms are often used interchangeably, they have distinct meanings.
