“Peripheral Artery Screening: A Lifesaving Check-Up for Your Circulation”

Body
By Adam Ladwig, Ph.D., DPT and Jed Droge, DPT While you’ve likely had your blood pressure checked in your arm countless times, you may have never had it measured in your leg. Yet this simple and often overlooked screening can be critical for detecting restricted blood flow. If left untreated, inadequate blood flow could lead to serious complications including limb loss, disability or even death.

Western Nebraska Perspectives I’ll Bring Back to Washington

Body
My second week back home in the ‘Good Life’ was a literal breath of fresh air. Traveling to the panhandle, I met with Nebraskans in childcare centers, local businesses, and community discussions. Each conversation was a reminder that the heart of public service is listening — not just hearing concerns but understanding the challenges and aspirations that shape daily life in our towns and counties.

Combatting Comunist China’s Ownership of America’s Farmland

Body
Rural communities are the heart and soul of Nebraska. Their health care needs are unique and require tailored solutions. The One Big Beautiful Bill (OBBB) puts rural patients front and center. It brings care, stability, and reform where it’s needed most. We are providing for rural hospitals so they can continue providing for the Good Life.

As School Year Starts, Teachers Deserve Our Thanks

Body
As the school year kicks off, it’s a good time to tell Nebraska’s teachers thank you. They are difference makers, and the men and women who lead our classrooms are some of the biggest mentors and role models our kids will have in their lives. My wife of 46 years, Suzanne, worked as a teacher in elementary schools – and, as First Lady, continues to travel the state to spend time in classrooms engaging with kids and reading books with grade schoolers. Teachers – especially the one I married – have played an outsized role in my life.

“Why Pelvic Health Matters: More Than Just Kegels”

Body
In our research and clinical practice experiences, a common theme emerges from people living with pelvic floor issues -- “I wish someone had told me about this sooner.” Through interviews and conversations, we’ve documented the stories of individuals who didn’t know what questions to ask, didn’t realize their symptoms were treatable, and often assumed they were alone. In her practice, Staci sees these realities unfold in the clinic every day, as both male and female patients arrive with frustration, confusion and a long history of being told that their concerns are normal, inevitable or simply something to live with.

An appreciation for the Work Ethic Camp

Body
The news came fast early this week about the inmates at McCook’s Work Ethic Camp being moved to make way for an ICE Detention Facility. This seems to have materialized in a very short window of time because there’s usually some rumblings of a transition like this, but this announcement had almost zero runway.

Back to School

Body
It is that time of year again when kids have returned to school, the excitement of the first days is starting to wear off, and families are adjusting to their new schedules. The beginning of the school year can bring lots of excitement and joy to kids, but it can also bring nerves, anxiety, and even some sadness that comes from a change in schedules and longing for the routine, or lack of routine, from summer. There are many ways parents can help their child(ren) feel out their emotions and help create a successful year for their child.
